We are excited to spotlight New York freelance litigator, Chelsea Beser! Chelsea is an Adjunct Professor of Legal Writing at Fordham University School of Law and a Montage Freelance Attorney. Upon graduating Fordham Law School, magna cum laude, in 2006, Chelsea worked in the insurance coverage and complex commercial litigation groups of Heller Ehrman. She then joined Skarzynski Black where she focused on commercial litigation and insurance coverage disputes. Chelsea joined Montage in 2012, as the first attorney in New York, and has continued to work on a variety of litigation matters. She has taught Legal Writing to first year law students at Fordham since 2014.
Montage Legal Group has allowed me to work on a wide range of interesting legal projects on my own time. This flexibility has made it possible for me to teach at a law school, volunteer, and spend time with my husband and three young children.

Chelsea Beser
Chelsea Beser graduated cum laude from Columbia University in 2003. She received her Juris Doctor from Fordham University in 2006, where she graduated magna cum laude and Order of the Coif and was an Associate Editor of the Fordham Law Review and a legal writing teaching assistant
During law school, Chelsea was a summer associate at Cravath, Swaine and Moore and externed for the Honorable Colleen McMahon of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Upon graduation, Chelsea began her career at the New York office of Heller Ehrman, where she was a litigation associate representing clients in complex commercial litigations, securities actions, government investigations and insurance recovery matters. Chelsea’s pro bono work included lead roles in a federal criminal case, a copyright action, and a death penalty case. Chelsea held a leadership role in the office as a member of the Associates Committee and as a mentor to summer associates.
Chelsea then joined Boundas, Skarzynski, Walsh & Black, where she focused on business litigation and insurance coverage matters involving professional liability insurance coverage, with a focus on director and officer liability. At BSWB, Chelsea served as the lead associate on a wide range of litigation matters including claims related to business torts, contract disputes, bad faith, coverage disputes, and trade secrets. Chelsea handled all stages of litigation including drafting initial pleadings, coordinating all aspects of discovery, preparing dispositive motions, participating in mediations and settlement conferences, and drafting appellate briefs.
Chelsea speaks on issues concerning women in the law, contract lawyering, and work-life balance. Chelsea recently spoke on a panel “Can Women Really Have It All?” for the Women’s Mentorship and Leadership Alliance in New York City and presented a program at the New York County Lawyer’s Association entitled “Alternative and Innovative Approaches to Solo and Small Firm Practice Development.”
Chelsea currently handles high level freelance legal projects, and is an Adjunct Professor of Legal Writing at Fordham University School of Law.
