Lawyers are trained to push through stress, long hours, and competing responsibilities. But for attorneys who are also mothers, the challenge of balancing a demanding legal career with family life can stretch emotional, mental, and physical bandwidth in ways the profession doesn’t always acknowledge.
On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, the Orange County Bar Association’s Mommy Esquire Committee will host a program focused on exactly that challenge—and how lawyers can move beyond simply surviving their workloads to actually thriving.
The program, “From Surviving to Thriving: Positive Psychology Strategies to Reduce Stress,” will take place from 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the OCBA offices in Newport Beach and will offer 1.0 hour of Wellness Competence MCLE credit.
The featured speaker will be Amy Gulder, a freelance attorney with Montage Legal Group, coach, and founder of Reframing Well-Being. Amy focuses her work on helping lawyers better understand the psychology behind stress, resilience, and professional fulfillment.
During the program, Amy will explore how principles of positive psychology can help attorneys—particularly lawyer-mothers—better manage stress and cultivate a more sustainable approach to their careers. The discussion will focus on practical strategies for recognizing and nurturing core psychological needs, reducing vulnerability to burnout and addiction, and replacing exhaustion with a renewed sense of purpose, joy, and control.
The program will be moderated by Laurie Rowen, attorney and co-owner of Montage Legal Group and Co-Chair of the OCBA Mommy Esquire Committee, which hosts monthly programs designed to support women navigating both legal practice and motherhood.
