Who can join the Montage platform?

  • Montage will consider applicants with excellent credentials from top law schools and 5+ years of full-time legal experience at a full-service firm or equivalent experience in a corporate counsel or government role.  Depending on your legal background and Montage’s need at that time, you will be contacted to interview with Montage.

How do I join the Montage platform?

What rate will I receive?

  • You set your own rate, which may vary depending on the project.  We can help guide you on your rates based on your background and experience, but the ultimate decision on rates is up to you.

How many hours can I expect?

  • It depends on the projects that come through, your background, your availability, and many other factors that depend primarily on each individual freelance attorney. There is no “typical” experience. Some freelance attorneys may work 50 hours per month for a variety of firms, while others may work 10 hours per year through Montage’s platform.

What is a “typical project?”

  • “Typical” does not exist in the freelance world. Some examples of projects may include drafting motions, research, discovery, drafting commercial agreements, and assisting with a merger.

Can I work for other companies/firms/somewhere else if I’m working with the Montage platform?

  • Yes. All freelance attorneys participating in Montage’s platform are independent businesses that make their own career and professional decisions.
