Introducing the Legal Specialty Series! Firms of all sizes often struggle with how to best meet their client needs when matters implicate legal specialties. Boutique firms may specialize in a few key areas, and need additional help from attorneys well-versed in those areas when matters require immediate attention. Or a firm may face a unique issue slightly outside of their wheelhouse, and may wish to consult with a specialist. Many of the freelance attorneys in the Montage Legal Group network have experience in specialty areas like patent law, bankruptcy, health care, real estate, and probate litigation, that can be difficult to find when time is of the essence. This series will feature several of the freelance attorneys in Montage’s network who can bring specialty experience to law firms of all sizes.
Bankruptcy is a complicated area of law that frequently arises in lawsuits, but many small firms lack attorneys with extensive bankruptcy experience. For example, a firm may be handling a commercial litigation case when a bankruptcy issue arises. The firm may be capable, but unable to thoroughly address the new bankruptcy issues, and it may benefit the firm and the client to consult with an experienced bankruptcy attorney. A firm may choose to associate with additional counsel, or a firm may elect to bring in an experienced freelance attorney to assist with discrete projects to help round out the team.
Freelance attorney Kathryn Anderson (J.D. from Northwestern University and formerly practiced at Rutan & Tucker) has experience in commercial business litigation, unlawful detainer, collection and bankruptcy matters. Kathryn has represented secured lenders, landlords and other creditors in bankruptcy cases, adversary proceedings, and collection matters. Kathryn’s experience also includes representation of creditors in bankruptcy proceedings, including preference actions. Kathryn has also represented landlords and property owners in unlawful detainer proceedings, including a five-day bench trial with victorious outcome.
Kathryn can contribute to a firm’s success by handling bankruptcy and litigation projects on an hourly basis.
