With the growing shift in technology and the need to better serve clients, many firms are turning to legal process outsourcing. Much of the work is transferred to external vendors either domestically or overseas. Using external resources is extremely beneficial for smaller firms since it frees up talent and is widely known for improving efficiency. The ABA’s Model Rule 1.1 promotes technological competence, but are there unknown issues that attorneys should consider when contracting with other attorneys or legal staff outside of their firm?
On September 19, 2017 from 10:00 AM – 11:30 PM Pacific (1:00 PM – 2:30 PM Eastern), Montage’s Co-Owners/Founders, Laurie Rowen and Erin Giglia, will be speaking on a panel for the upcoming ABA CLE webinar: “Legal Process Outsourcing: Is the Technology Right for Your Firm?”
Along with Byron Buck (Senior Corporate Counsel and Manager of Law Practice Management for Caterpillar Inc.) and Wilton Strickland (Wilton H. Strickland PLLC), and moderated by Mark Ross (Global Head of Legal Process Outsourcing at Integreon) the panel will discuss the risks and benefits associated with outsourcing legal services, maintaining professionalism as it pertains to Rule 1.1 (competence and contracting with other lawyers outside of firm), and turnaround time for product and flexibility.
