Meet Denise McGinn! Denise graduated magna cum laude from New York University School of Law. She previously practiced at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP and was an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, Civil Division. A pause in her career and a move to Northern California brought Denise to Montage’s freelance network, where she works on all types of civil litigation with a particular love and talent for civil procedure issues. Throughout her career, Denise has carved time for pro bono work, and she continues to focus on volunteering both in the local school and community.
Montage enables me to provide quality legal work in a vast array of areas, while allowing me the flexibility for my children and community service. The balance for me is great, and I enjoy helping other lawyers through freelance work so they can achieve a meaningful balance.

Denise McGinn
Denise graduated magna cum laude from New York University School of Law in 1998, where she was a member of the Order of the Coif. During law school, Denise was a Teaching Assistant for Civil Procedure. She also was a summer legal intern for the Honorable Thomas J. McAvoy, Chief Judge for the United States District Court, Northern District of New York. Denise obtained her B.A, magna cum laude, in politics from Ithaca College in 1995.
After law school, Denise joined Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP where she handled a wide array of cases including, complex business litigation, antitrust, securities, and insurance. At Gibson, Denise served as lead counsel on an immigration matter and on a family court appeal, participated in dispositive motions and discovery in numerous areas of law, and worked on multiple complex cases.
Denise joined the United States Attorney’s Office, for the Eastern District of New York as an A.U.S.A. in the Civil Division where she was responsible for an onerous and diverse caseload, including employment discrimination, immigration, environmental, civil and criminal forfeiture. At the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Denise took several cases to trial, took and defended numerous depositions, prepared a variety of dispositive motions, argued several cases to the Court of Appeals, investigated and initiated complaints, and defended administrative matters in the district court.
Denise volunteered at Catholic Charities, Immigration Services, primarily by preparing pleadings under the Special Immigrant Juvenile Status provisions. Denise affiliated with Montage Legal Group’s freelance attorney network in 2017. She is admitted to practice law in California and New York, as well as the N.D. Cal., S.D.N.Y, E.D.N.Y., and Court of Appeals for the 2nd and 9th Circuits.
